Kohodo and HiO ICE CREAM collaborate
We are releasing a limited edition "Ginger Spice Ice Cream" made from upcycled ginger scraps produced during the ginger ale manufacturing process.
Kohodo Co., Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Masaaki Shirogaki; hereinafter, Kohodo), a ginger ale specialty store, and HiOLI Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, HiOLI), a craft sweets company, will be selling a new product, "Ginger Spice Ice Cream" (the story of Kohodo's ginger ale, which has mastered ginger), in limited scoops starting in November 2024. This product is an attempt to deliver deliciousness in a new form by upcycling ginger scraps generated during the ginger ale manufacturing process.
Utilizing ginger waste generated during manufacturing
When producing ginger ale, about 15 grams of ginger waste is generated per liter. Until now, Kohodo has dried the ginger waste and used it in ginger tea, but it is difficult to make effective use of all of it, so much of it was discarded. With the aim of creating a sustainable society, and with the cooperation of HiOLI, which has a wealth of experience in confectionery manufacturing, Kohodo has developed "Ginger Spice Ice Cream" by upcycling discarded ginger waste.
A special ice cream with ginger flavor
This ice cream has a refreshing sweetness and a stimulating aroma while taking advantage of the rich flavor of ginger simmered with various spices. This environmentally friendly product offers a new experience not only to ginger ale fans but also to ice cream lovers.
