Kohodo and HiO ICE CREAM collaborate
Limited Release of "Ginger Spice Ice Cream," Upcycled from Ginger Pulp Created During Ginger Ale Production
Kohodo Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Masao Shirogaki; hereinafter "Kohodo"), a specialty ginger ale store, and HiOLI Inc. (hereinafter "HiOLI"), a creator of craft sweets, will release a new product, "Ginger Spice Ice Cream" (The Story of Kohodo's Ginger Ale, Perfecting Ginger), in limited quantities starting in November 2024. This product is an effort to deliver delicious flavor in a new form by upcycling the ginger pulp generated during the ginger ale manufacturing process.
Utilizing Ginger Pulp from the Manufacturing Process
Manufacturing ginger ale generates approximately 15 grams of ginger pulp per liter. Previously, Kohodo dried this pulp to use in products like ginger tea, but it was difficult to utilize everything effectively, and much of it was discarded. With the cooperation of HiOLI, which has extensive experience in confectionery manufacturing and a vision for a sustainable society, we have developed "Ginger Spice Ice Cream," which upcycles this previously wasted ginger pulp.
A Special Ice Cream Highlighting Ginger Flavor
This ice cream captures the rich flavor of ginger simmered with a variety of spices, offering a balance of clean sweetness and a fragrant, spicy kick. This environmentally conscious product provides a new experience not only for ginger ale fans but also for ice cream enthusiasts.
